New ArtoMat pieces – Series 2

With my first 50 Art*o*Mat pieces nearly sold out, I was asked to create another set. My second series of screen printed poster-wrapped blocks is complete, and will soon be distributed to Art*o*Mat machines around the country.

Photographs of the individual pieces will be up on my website soon, in the meantime below are some photos of Series 2. For more about Series 1, watch this video or check out these previous posts about my acceptance to the program and my pieces starting to show-up in machines.

I recently posted about a new gig photographing for the San Francisco Chronicle Real Estate section. Since then, two more assignments have been published with my photography on the cover and featured throughout the article. One is about the SoMa neighborhood in San Francisco, the other about the Ashby Station neighborhood in Berkeley. On both of these features I collaborated with writer and good friend, Jennifer Liss who researched and wrote the stories.

I’ve been designing and art directing for Attack! for several years now. Attack! offers nationwide event staffing, field support, and guerrilla services focused on developing successful brand experiences. One of the first projects I did with them was to re-design the logo and visual identity by creating the Sumo silhouette. More recently I’ve designed some ads and a media kit for them…

New look for Visual Texture

Visual Texture has a new look! The facelift employs a Wordpress theme called Modern-Clix. I subscribe to a “less is more” attitude when it comes to design, and after using a basic Wordpress template to get the blog off the ground it was time to make a change, switch themes, get nerdy, and fool with some code. The result is a cleaner, simpler layout that uses the Golden Rectangle principle, an aesthetically pleasing proportion favored by designers.

What I like: The simplicity of the theme lets the typography sing. The horizontal lines are quiet yet effective. It is spare but has a solid structure. It is VT’s new home.

Every Sunday the San Francisco Chronicle publishes a real estate section with stories about neighborhoods, properties, and trends in real estate, along with the regular listings. Late last year I was hired to photograph properties to accompany some of these stories. So far two of my assignments have been published; a cover story about Bay Area views, and a story about solar energy. Both are shown below. More to come…

Roberta Flack's new website

I’m pleased to announce the launch of Grammy Award winner Roberta Flack’s new website. I designed the visual layout and Michael Waters of Studio 678 managed the web development. Visit www.robertaflack.com to check it out.

Roberta Flack is best known for her Billboard number one hit “Killing Me Softly with His Song.” She won three Grammy Awards in 1973 including Song of the Year. In 1999 the song was inducted into the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame. Check her out tomorrow night when she performs at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, 8pm on CBS.
