Today is Laina’s birthday. To honor my partner in creativity and in life, today’s picture is one of my favorites of her. Taken in the Palm Desert, I’ve always loved the perspective and composition of this picture and of course Laina’s pondering of the T-Rex’s love of palm trees.

It was four years ago this month I took a solo road trip up to northern California and southern Oregon, one last hoorah before starting a new job. One of my stops was Crater Lake, a majestic and picturesque body of water that resides in the caldera of the once great volcano Mt. Mazama. This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited and should be on everyone’s checklist on places to see before you die, it is simply beautiful.

Over the years I’ve managed to start numerous art projects only to get distracted by something else and put that project to the side. Needless to say there are always in-progress drawings or paintings that I can pull out to start working on again. Here is one that I pulled out recently to finish up, looking forward to adding color to this guy.
Over the last month the rose bushes in the neighborhood have been blooming like crazy. Most of the roses are red, white and yellow, but on a recent walk I saw this one and loved the combo of fuschia and yellow.
In honor of my Mom’s birthday today I am posting a shot of she and I when I was just under a year old. Happy Birthday Mom!
Dubbed “Fire In The Hole” by Laina, the dinnertime treat of carrot chunk in penne pasta was a hit with our son.
